South Sulawesi Government Applies Green and Blue Economy, Synergizing Investment at PINISI SULTAN Forum
Makassar, sulselprov.go.id – The government of South Sulawesi Province keeps encouraging the acceleration of regional economic growth through a sustainable approach.
This is underlined in the Dedicated Team Meeting of PINISI SULTAN Forum 2025 which was held at Pola Room, South Sulawesi Governor Office, on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025.
This forum presented strategic stakeholders, such as the South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, which also appointed to open the discussion session, Regional Secretary of South Sulawesi Region Jufri Rahman, as well as mayors and regents or their representatives of South Sulawesi,
Representative Head of Bank Indonesia of South Sulawesi, Rizky Ernadi Wirmanda, and officials of the Ministry of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia.
South Sulawesi Regional Secretary, Jufri Rahman, mentioned that PINISI SULTAN Forum 2025 is not merely a discussion space, but also a concrete policy implementation medium. He encourages all regions to actively preparing programs that give direct impact in improving the society welfare.
This forum is also an effort of the South Sulawesi Government in strengthening the vision of “South Sulawesi, Progressive and Characterful” as the center of economic growth in the east part of Indonesia through development that is planned, collaborative, and adaptive towards the global challenges.
This activity became a coordinating forum to align the policy direction of regional development to the national policy.
“The regional government is committed to create a healthy and inclusive investment climate, aligned with the national target and the characteristics of the South Sulawesi region.” stated Jufri Rahman.
Especially in encouraging productive investment and the downstreaming of premium commodities on the basis of green economy and blue economy. These two approaches are considered strategic in building a strong and sustainable economy of South Sulawesi.
Green economy applies efficiency in utilizing resources, reduces carbon emission, and applies sustainable principles in industrial and trading activities. On the other hand, blue economy utilizes marine and coastal potential of South Sulawesi wisely, including the sectors of fisheries, nautical tourism, and marine energy.
Through this forum, South Sulawesi Government emphasized that regional development must be inside the corridor of National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), but also adjusted to the vision and mission of the regional head elected through 2024 Regional Election, appointed by President Prabowo Subianto in early 2025.
Aligned to it, the South Sulawesi Government has prepared a Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) which divided regional development direction to four strategic areas. This division was designed to optimize local potential and strengthening inclusive development foundation.
The four areas are: (1) Growth Area, directed to new economy centers, industrial areas, and the tourism sector; (2) Premium Commodity Area, which focused on increasing the competitiveness in the sectors of agriculture, fisheries, and forestry; (3) Self-Sufficiency Area for Food, Water, and Energy, which supported natural resources resilience as well as renewable energy development; and (4) Affirmation Area, aimed to accelerate development in remote areas, isle regions, and the indigenous community.
The Representative Head of Bank Indonesia of South Sulawesi, Rizky Ernadi Wirmanda, also stated the importance of financial sector in supporting environment-based development. He emphasized the need of monetary policy innovation and financial access extension to accelerate inclusive economic transformation.
Aside from pushing the agenda of investment and downstreaming, this forum also became a place to enhance cross-sector coordination, including between regional government, business actors, banking, and central institution. This synergy is expected to create a healthy and competitive investment ecosystem.
With the mutual commitment of all stakeholders, PINISI SULTAN Forum 2025 is expected to be a starting point of the economic transformation of South Sulawesi in becoming a progressive independent, characterful, and sustainable province. (*)
