South Sulawesi Investment Skyrocketed for 39 Per Cent in 2025, Exceeding IDR 19.5 Trillion and Creating Thousands Employment

SOUTH SULAWESI – The South Sulawesi Province ends 2025 with an impressive economic record after the investment realization exceeded IDR 19.544 trillion. This number skyrocketed for 39.25 per cent from the year prior, emphasizing consistent growth pace.

Not only that this milestone reflects a positive trend, it also exceeded the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan amounting IDR 16.610 trillion. Percentage wise, the investment realization of South Sulawesi achieved 118 per cent from the determined target.

This surge in investment became a strong indicator of the increasing trust of business actors towards the business climate and the direction of regional development policy. South Sulawesi is considered increasingly competitive as a destination for investment.

From the modal structure, Domestic Capital Investment still serves as the foundation of the national economy with a value of IDR 11.528 trillion. Meanwhile, Foreign Capital Investment contributes IDR 8.016 trillion, enhancing long-term investment flows.

The investment growth directly impacted the aspect of employment throughout 2025. As much as 26,130 Indonesian workers and 294 foreign workers are employed, increased by 12.12 per cent compared to the year prior.

Based on business sector, the biggest investment realization is mining, as well as residential housings, industrial areas, and offices. The sector of trade and repair, transportation and warehousing, as well as food industry are also in the top 5 of the contributor lists.

The Head of Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Agency of South Sulawesi, Asrul Sani, stated that this achievement is a symbol of the strengthening of regional competitiveness.

“Data of 2025 shows South Sulawesi strengthen its position as an interesting investment destination, for both domestic and international investors.” he stated on Wednesday (4/2/2026).

He emphasizes, the South Sulawesi Government continues to push strategic steps to maintain this positive trend. One of those is through simplification and acceleration of business licensing services.

“According to the direction of Mr. Governor and Mrs. Vice Governor, licensing convenience is key to make investors interested in making investment, as well as creating employment for the local people of South Sulawesi,” conclude Asrul.
